South Korean company partners with health centre for workplace wellness programme

Simmons, a South Korea-based sleep specialty brand, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Icheon City Public Health Center to promote employee health management and build a health-oriented workplace culture.

Seoul Economic Daily reported that under the agreement, the two organisations will establish a prevention-focused health management system and collaborate to improve employee health standards and create a healthy work environment.

Simmons will provide health checkup data of employees working at Simmons Factorium to the Icheon City Public Health Center. Based on the data, the health centre will identify individuals requiring health management, and a team of medical professionals and health management staff will visit the workplace once a month to monitor employee health conditions.

Key areas of management include chronic diseases, occupational stress and oral health care. Specific services include nutritional and lifestyle counselling for individuals suspected of or diagnosed with chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and hyperlipidemia.

Professional counselling and support will be provided for employees in high-risk groups for occupational stress, alongside oral health management linked to chronic diseases, including education on preventing periodontal disease and cavities.

The two organisations will also conduct experiential health promotion campaigns targeting visitors to events hosted by Simmons, such as its Farmers' Market and Christmas Tree and Illumination events.

Lee Jong-sung, executive vice president of Simmons' production and logistics strategy division, said: "We expect this agreement to provide practical benefits in creating a health-friendly work environment and promoting employee wellness."

He added that the company will continue to contribute in various ways to community health promotion and mutual development.

The partnership reflects growing recognition in South Korea that workplace health programmes deliver both employee wellbeing benefits and operational performance improvements.
