Industry NewsSD Worx Ireland targets 25% payroll market share as regulatory pressure drives demand
Wicklow-based payroll and HR software provider SD Worx Ireland has revealed that its MegaPay platform now processes pay for nearly one in five workers in Ireland, positioning the company as a significant force in the country's payroll infrastructure. The disclosure carries direct implications for HR and finance professionals navigating an increasingly complex compliance environment.
The Irish Independent reported that, based on Central Statistics Office figures, SD Worx Ireland currently covers approximately 17% of the national workforce, equating to close to 400,000 employees across roughly 450 client organisations.
The company recorded revenue growth of 26% last year and reported a customer retention rate of close to 99%. It is now targeting a 25% share of the national workforce over the next five years, driven by growing employer demand linked to new reporting obligations.
Managing director Eimear Byrne said: "As the regulatory landscape rapidly changes, robust, reliable, and accurate payroll is a fundamental requirement for every business that must be prioritised."
She added that an increasing number of organisations do not have the in-house resources to keep pace with the evolving requirements of modern work environments. Byrne also noted that on-time payment is the minimum employees should expect, stating the firm has never missed a pay date or submission.
Demand has been accelerated by requirements around tax compliance, pension auto-enrolment, and gender pay gap reporting, all of which have added to the administrative burden on Irish businesses. SD Worx said its MegaPay system enables employers to automate payroll calculations and generate required reports, reducing reliance on manual processes.
A €3 million investment to expand services for the SME sector is expected to drive further growth, targeting a segment that makes up a significant share of Irish employment.
