Praxis Care launches strategy to 2030 to empower staff and scale services

Praxis Care, one of Northern Ireland’s largest social care employers, has unveiled its strategy to 2030 to expand services, empower staff, and raise standards amid growing demand for mental health and disability support.

With over 800 staff in Northern Ireland alone, the organisation is scaling operations to serve thousands of people across the region.

Northern Ireland faces a significant social care challenge. Nearly one in four people now live with a disability, while autism prevalence among school-aged children has more than quadrupled since the 2000s. Around 19 per cent of the population experiences mental ill health, 25 per cent above the UK average. Rising demand threatens to stretch services, increase waiting lists, and overburden staff.

Praxis Care’s strategy is anchored in a vision of enabling every person supported to live independently, with dignity and purpose. CEO Carol Breen explains that the roadmap focuses on expanding services, raising standards, and creating a sustainable care model for the coming decade. Core values of integrity, respect, ambition, care, and innovation guide decision-making and growth.

The strategy emphasises three priorities: empowering people, elevating standards, and enhancing efficiency. Staff empowerment is central, with co-produced services, tailored programmes, enhanced learning, career pathways, and wellbeing initiatives designed to equip teams to deliver high-quality care. Continuous improvement and strengthened governance aim to elevate standards, while modernised facilities, digital transformation, and data-driven practices enhance operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.

Praxis Care is already implementing its strategy, opening a state-of-the-art supported living service in Ballymena this year. The facility demonstrates personalised, community-based care, aligned with government commissioning priorities. Further developments in 2026 will expand residential and community services.
