Galetech Group expansion fuels new opportunities in HR
Galetech Group, the Co Cavan-based renewable energy developer, has unveiled ambitious plans to double its business over the next three years, supported by Enterprise Ireland. The expansion will create 65 new roles, spanning engineering, planning, design and, crucially, HR, finance and IT.
The move comes as the group pushes forward a 1,000 megawatt pipeline in wind and battery storage, while scaling internationally into the UK, Africa and Australia. With more than 150 staff already in place, the company’s growth strategy is designed to strengthen not only its technical capacity but also its organisational resilience.
For HR leaders, the scale of hiring is significant. Galetech is signalling that success in the renewable energy transition depends as much on talent strategy and workforce capability as it does on technological innovation. The diversity of roles—from engineers to business support—will require agile HR planning to align new skills with rapid business scaling.
CEO Darren Sherry highlighted the critical role of Ireland in shaping renewable technologies for global markets, stressing that the sector offers one of the greatest opportunities to address hard-to-decarbonise industries such as aviation. Enterprise Ireland’s backing underscores the strategic importance of building talent pipelines to anchor Ireland’s place in the clean energy economy.
As sustainability pressures accelerate, HR executives will need to consider how workforce design can support companies aiming to scale globally while retaining strong local impact. Galetech’s trajectory illustrates the balancing act between growth, innovation and employee capability in a fiercely competitive sector.
