DHL partners the movement to normalise mental health at work

DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Supply Chain Ireland have entered a partnership with the Elephant in the Room movement, a locally founded initiative focused on reducing stigma around mental health and encouraging open conversations in everyday settings. The collaboration centres on reinforcing mental wellbeing as a visible and ongoing workplace priority.

In their release, DHL said it has unveiled a four-foot-tall elephant sculpture that will rotate across its Irish offices. Designed in the company’s signature colours, the sculpture acts as a symbolic and physical reminder of the importance of acknowledging mental health openly, rather than treating it as an unspoken issue within professional environments.

The Elephant in the Room movement was founded by Irish media personality and mental health advocate Brent Pope. Its core message is simple: mental health should be discussed as openly and without judgement as physical health. 

By aligning with the initiative, DHL aims to help foster a workplace environment where employees feel supported in raising concerns and accessing help without fear of stigma or discrimination.

According to DHL, the partnership reflects a broader commitment to building a culture grounded in understanding, empathy and psychological safety. The rotating display is intended to keep the conversation active across sites, rather than positioning wellbeing as a one-off campaign or awareness week.

The initiative sits within a growing trend among large employers in Ireland to make mental wellbeing more visible and integrated into day-to-day operations.
