Bank of Ireland advances workforce management with new hybrid hub

Bank of Ireland has opened a new hybrid-working hub in Sligo, marking the 16th site in its national network.

This expansion forms part of the bank’s ongoing strategy to embed flexible work practices across its operations and strengthen workforce engagement.

The Sligo hub complements existing facilities in Balbriggan, College Green, Cork, Dundalk, Galway, Gorey, Limerick, Mullingar, Naas, Newbridge, Newlands Cross, Northern Cross, Omagh, Santry, and Swords. Four additional hubs are planned for early 2026 in Letterkenny, Tralee, Tullamore, and Wexford, reflecting continued investment in regional infrastructure.

The hybrid model combines home working, office locations, and hubs depending on role and business needs. According to Bridget O’Malley, Hybrid Working Lead at Bank of Ireland, these hubs provide convenient professional spaces closer to employees’ homes, reduce commuting, and support collaboration and team engagement.

Bank of Ireland began rolling out its hybrid network in response to employee demand and evolving workplace expectations. The model has been linked to improvements in work-life balance, productivity, and the bank’s ability to recruit and retain talent across Ireland.

As regional development becomes a key focus, hybrid hubs offer a strategic advantage by creating distributed, professional workspaces that strengthen organisational resilience and workforce wellbeing.
