SAP has agreed to acquire TechWolf, a Belgian AI work intelligence provider, giving HR and workforce planning teams a skills and work intelligence layer that SAP expects to become an intelligent core of SAP SuccessFactors.
SAP is a German enterprise applications company listed on the NYSE, which operates the SAP SuccessFactors HR portfolio. Financial results are publicly reported.
TechWolf is a Ghent-based applied AI company founded eight years ago and led by Andreas De Neve, chief executive and co-founder, with offices in London, New York and San Francisco. Its open-source models have been downloaded more than two million times, and its clients include HSBC, GSK, Ericsson, PayPal and Booking.com. Financial figures are not publicly available.
JP Morgan was the exclusive financial advisor to TechWolf; no advisors were mentioned for SAP.
The strategic logic establishes work intelligence as a strategic SAP asset: TechWolf’s context graph, AI models and applied AI research team move into SAP, while TechWolf is expected to support skills mapping, workforce planning and organisational redesign using context from across SAP’s Autonomous Enterprise.
Manoj Swaminathan, president and chief product officer for SAP Autonomous Suite, said: “TechWolf’s proprietary context graph for skills and work provides an excellent grounding layer for agent queries regarding work and skills planning and talent management.”
Andreas De Neve, chief executive and co-founder of TechWolf, said the company had spent eight years building its platform and would use the acquisition to extend its work across a broader business context and at greater scale.
Subject to closing and required consultation, SAP plans to keep TechWolf as an independent entity under De Neve, headquartered in Ghent, with its platform remaining available to SAP and non-SAP customers.
SAP also participated in TechWolf’s 2024 funding round, in which the company raised $42.75 million (approximately €38 million), according to Techzine.
For the sector, the deal shows a major HR software vendor acquiring skills and work intelligence to underpin AI-driven hiring, workforce planning and role redesign, with the platform remaining open to non-SAP customers.
